Information We Collect

ParkPod collects the following information to provide our services:

Precise location data: We use your device's GPS location to detect nearby dog parks, trigger geofence-based park entry/exit notifications, and geocode zip codes. Location is used solely for app functionality and is not shared with third parties.
Device identifier: We generate a random unique identifier (UUID) for your device, stored securely in your device's Keychain. This ID is used to associate your dogs, check-ins, and pods with your device and to enable co-ownership features. It is not linked to your identity and is not used for advertising or tracking.
Pet profiles: Information you provide about your dog - including name, breed, appearance customization, and personality - is stored locally and synced to our cloud database.
Check-in data: When you check in at a dog park, we store the check-in record including any optional notes you add and your check-in count.
Pod data: If you create or join a pod (group), we store the pod name, emoji, and membership information.
Game data: High scores from the in-app mini-game are stored locally on your device.
Support requests: If you contact us via the support form, we collect your name, email, and message.
Mobile number (text-message service only): If you choose to use ParkPod by SMS, we store your mobile phone number solely to operate that service - to link your dog's profile to your number and to send you the notifications described below. You are never added by anyone else: texting our number first is how you opt in.

What We Don't Collect

We do not collect your name, email, or contact information (there is no account or login system). The only exception: if you use the optional text-message service, we store your mobile number to operate it, as described above
We do not use Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA) or any ad tracking
We do not use any third-party analytics or tracking SDKs
We do not collect photos, health data, financial data, or browsing history

Data Storage

Your data is stored securely using Supabase (hosted on AWS). We use industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest.

Text Message (SMS) Service

ParkPod offers an optional text-message service so people without the app can take part in their dog-park group. If you use it:

Opt-in: You opt in by sending the first text message to our number. We never send text messages to a number that has not texted us first.
What we send: Notifications from your own group - for example, when a group member checks in at a dog park or schedules a playdate - and replies to your commands.
Message frequency: Message frequency varies based on your group's activity. A per-day limit applies, and we do not send messages late at night.
Message and data rates may apply.
Opt-out and help: Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving messages. Reply HELP for help. You can also reply MUTE to pause messages temporarily or DELETE to remove your dog's profile and data.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Mobile opt-in data and consent are never sold or shared with any third party.

Third-Party Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties.

Data Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app settings. If you use the text-message service, reply DELETE to our number to remove your dog's profile, your mobile number, and all associated data.
